Do you have our next equine partner?
We do not accept stallions or horses younger than 5 or over the age of 18.
The Horse Trial Process
Step 1
Do you think you have Wings of Hope's next equine partner?! Connect with Development Manager, Jennifer. We want to learn more about your horse and how he/she might be a good fit in our programs and explain the prospective donation process in detail. This is the text area for this paragraph.
Step 2
If your horse aligns with our current needs and herd we will request for you to submit information detailing your horse's age, training, experiences and qualities. In addition, we request the submission of photos and videos of the horse being ridden and groomed/tacked if possible.his is the text area for this paragraph.
Step 3
If your horse appears to meet the current needs of the herd and be a potential match, a Wings of Hope staff member will visit the horse. This visit will include observation of watching you groom, tack, and ride in person and make a video of the visit to share with other staff. Members of the Wings of Hope team may additionally ride during this visit. If your horse suits our current program needs the horse will come to Wings of Hope for a trial evaluation period of up to 90 days. During the trial, the horse will be ridden and evaluated by our staff and trained volunteers. Evaluations of temperament, soundness and ability to participate in the program and acclimate to program activities in a manner that is safe and comfortable for all will determine the transition and confirmation from trial to herd member.
Joining the Herd
The herd receives routine hoof care, vaccinations, regular deworming, and dental care. Horses are also eligible to receive therapies such as chiropractic and massage.
Our horses will work no more than 3 continuous hours and a workday of no more than 6 hours.
The herd is turned out in small herds at our 25-acre facility. Each horse enters the barn a minimum of twice per day for daily care and feeding. While outdoors they always have access to shelter available in three-sided sheds.
Yes! All donors have the opportunity to request the first right of refusal after a horse retires from actively working in Wings of Hope's programs. On average, Wings of Hope horses serve as a member of the herd for 10+ years.
Absolutely! We encourage you to connect with our staff and see the mission in action and learn more about our programs and the impact of your potential gift.
